She will be hosting this event for us all from her home in County Clare where she lives with her family. \nwww.tembresong.com\nwww.facebook.com/tembredecarteretmusic \nAli Burns:\nAli Burns:\nAli Burns is a talented and unique song writer\, based in Scotland. I have spent years learning and teaching her songs\, so many choir members and workshop participants have sung her songs\, maybe without knowing it. It is such a pleasure to have Ali join us in June. Below is her Website and below is some more details about her and her work. Tembre\n‘I’m a songwriter and workshop leader based in S.W. Scotland. I write songs then I teach them at harmony singing workshops and perform them with choirs. I also publish the songs and arrangements I write.\nI’ve always been fascinated by the sound of voices singing: it doesn’t have to be a great voice – in fact quite the opposite – I think I’m inspired just by the fact that people’s voices are so closely connected to themselves and that they are prepared to stand up and sing – this is me – this is what I sound like! And when you put many voices together\, the strong support the weak and the whole is such a magnificent thing – so much larger than the sum of the parts. I’ve developed my own style of writing over the years. I’m interested in the early British folk hymn style of West Gallery music\, developed after the reformation: one of the defining things of this style is that everyone has a great tune to sing and this suits my approach to workshops where I want every singer to go home with a great tune ringing in their head.’\nwww.aliburns.co.uk\nSophia Efthimiou:\nSophia is singer\, choir leader and music teacher based in London and Sussex. She has a unique and infectious style\, bringing a sweet balance of humour and depth to her workshops. \nHer warm and playful nature creates a sense of ease and unity\, enabling everyone to drop into a space that is both held and free. Her own dance and movement practices naturally inform her leadership style\, helping to bring the voice back into the body where it belongs. \nShe collects and teaches songs from different cultures and traditions from around the world\, leading harmony singing workshops with people of all ages\, abilities and backgrounds to bring out the natural voice and reinforce our innate human ability to make music. Her singing workshops are soul inspiring\, heart warming and empowering\, creating a sense of euphoria and connection for everyone involved. \n‘Until we can sing together again in person I’ll be offering some online workshops to keep the singing alive in our hearts. She leads the Soul of the City Gospel Choir in Exeter\, and Connecting Voices Community Choir in Dartington. As of May 2020 these have both successfully moved online to Zoom\, and are embracing the limitations of online singing with grace but also creativity! Fran is finding that although it is not possible to sing online all at the same time with the time delay issues\, there are definitely ways to engage a group in singing\, and some benefits to be had. Singers have reported a sense of satisfaction at the challenge of learning to be more self reliant holding their parts on their own at home. There is also the big bonus that the choirs through meeting on Zoom are staying connected socially with one another during this time.\nwww.soulofthecity.co.uk \nMore details:\n\n\nThe three of us appreciate that at this time it may challenging financially\, emotionally and physically\, so we hope this gift of songs brought to your home will be nourishing for you and your family. \nHow to use Zoom if you are new to it: \nOnce you have registered you will be sent a link by Tembre to the Zoom gathering \, there will be a waiting room and Tembre will welcome you into the events from 3.50pm.
